Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 26, 2026
1. Our Commitment
Proven News is built on a simple principle: we verify facts, not people. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service, we never sell your data, and we never show you advertising. Proven News is operated by DHS Solutions LLC ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not collect your name, phone number, or address unless you voluntarily provide it.
Verification content. When you submit a claim, URL, image, or conversation for verification, that content is processed by our AI system. The raw submitted content is not permanently stored after verification is complete. What is retained is your verification history — see below.
Verification history. For logged-in users, we store the query text, verification result, and timestamp of each verification. This is displayed in your personal history and is never shared with other users.
Usage data. We track the number of verifications you perform in order to enforce tier limits. We do not track which websites you visit or build behavioral profiles.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We receive only a transaction confirmation and your subscription status from Stripe.
Circle activity. Content posted to Circles is visible to Circle members. Circle owners can see member email addresses for the purpose of managing their Circle. When you post anonymously, your display identity is hidden from other members, but a record linking the post to your account is retained internally for abuse prevention purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the verification service
- To manage your account and subscription
- To send transactional emails (verification confirmations, Circle notifications, billing receipts)
- To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
- To respond to support requests
We do not use your data to train AI models, target advertising, or sell to third parties.
Lawful basis for processing (GDPR). For users in the European Economic Area, our lawful basis for processing your personal data is contractual necessity — we require your email address and usage data to provide the service you have signed up for — and legitimate interests, specifically enforcing usage limits and preventing abuse.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not track your location
- We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels
- We do not build behavioral or interest profiles
- We do not collect data from children under 13
- We do not sell your personal information to any third party
5. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate Proven News:
- Supabase — database and authentication (data stored in the United States)
- Anthropic — AI verification engine (claims are processed but not retained by Anthropic for model training without consent, per Anthropic's API data privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Vercel — web hosting and deployment
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy. We select providers who meet high standards for data security.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Verification history is retained until you delete individual entries or delete your account. The raw content you submitted for verification is not retained after processing is complete — only the query summary and result are stored in your history. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of non-transactional emails
California residents (CCPA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at daniel@provennews.org.
EEA residents (GDPR). If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data, and the right to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at daniel@provennews.org.
To exercise any of the above rights, contact us at daniel@provennews.org.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law, including the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act.
9. Children
Proven News is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
